Candidate's Statement

Our All American Girl! Education choices belong to the parent, not the federal government. Carla is dedicated to represent everyday folks, building positive relationships between stakeholders and the Clay County School Board. She will support education policies that maintain a safe environment for your child, as well as, good teaching that create student success. Carla has been evaluating materials used in classrooms since 2009. She understands the problem and will only support quality fact based curriculum. A vote for Carla will be a vote for kids! Born in north Texas and raised in The Buckeye State with traditional family values. Carla’s father owned Doane’s Heating and Air. Her mother made and served pizza, subs, lasagna and spaghetti using her own special recipes. Genova’s pizza became the place-to-be, after school and on the weekend. Carla’s direct involvement in those businesses not only taught her vital business principles, it inspired her to earn a business degree where she focused on Supply and Logistics. Ms. Cran knows a robust business environment contributes directly to a viable school system. She desires more businesses invest in our schools. She also would like to see graduating students choose to stay in Clay County for school and work. In 1987 Ms. Cran took an oath to protect and serve this great country. Her service to the U.S. Navy provided important skills in leadership, first in Radiological Controls and then Security Supply. Carla worked in perilous conditions on a regular basis. Her position in RACON required her to know how different components of a complex system worked together. While on shore duty, she learned how to keep a budget, readily identify supply/materials concerns as well as negotiate contracts comparing best pricing and value. Desert Shield and Desert Storm ensued. Naval Police and Security team was the first line of defense protecting nuclear submarines and their servicers. She took her position(s) seriously making sure she followed protocol at all times. She handled each situation with great care because she knew the lives of others were in her hands. Carla will serve on the Clay County School Board with the same diligence. In 1995 she moved her son and grandmother to NE Florida. Within a couple of years, Carla was asked to take over a class at her son’s private school. She fell in love with teaching and built the relevant skillset to best serve. Ms. Cran knows Florida’s education system. She has been dedicated to K-12 education, both paid and as a volunteer, for over 15 years. Carla’s expertise in education is unmatched by other candidate in the 2016 race. She understands how vital good administrators and teachers are to a quality education. Carla believes if we invest in our teachers, it will pay dividends for many years to come. She is confident exemplary teachers will devote fully in his/her students. Parents should be comfortable in and around his/her child’s school. As your school board member, Ms. Cran will support policy that builds positive relationships between parent and your child’s school. She asks for your vote in August 2016.  Heart for Service  Highly regarded in the Clay County community  Over 15 years of school system related training and experience  Proven Conservative  Family advocate Florida Teacher\'s License K-12 Exceptional Student Education K-6 Elementary Education 6-9 English 9-12 English Reading Endorsed Higher Education Certificate; Logistics & Transportation Jacksonville, FL (2012) M.A.T.
