Candidate's Statement

PATTI TOBIN Patti Tobin has nearly three decades of experience in planning, economic development, and growth management in Florida, which serve her well in taking on the challenges facing our county, including job creation, diversification of the tax base and sustainability. Patti has made St. Lucie County her home for the last 26 years and has lived in District 2 for 24 of those years. She received her Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of Memphis and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. She has over 28 years of planning, housing and economic development experience; most of that time working with local governments, including Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, and St. Lucie County. She also worked for the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council and there was involved in local governments’ comprehensive plan amendments and developments of regional impact (DRI). She also has worked in the private sector. Patti is currently the president of Learn to Read of St. Lucie County, having been closely involved with that organization since 1991. She was appointed by Commissioner Doug Coward to the Citizens\' Budget Committee, is assisting Heathcote Botanical Gardens with their long range planning efforts, and serves as co-chair of the Academic Success Network of the Roundtable of St. Lucie County. Patti is also a member of the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce and the American Association of University Women. She is a certified planner and was involved in the American Planning Association – Treasure Coast Section, serving as past president and treasurer. Patti’s past involvement includes volunteer work with the Friends of the Library Board, Weed & Seed of St. Lucie County, Big Brothers Big Sisters’ reading mentor program, United Way Loaned Executive, and City of Port St. Lucie Civil Service Appeals.
