We need school board members with a deep understanding of how schools function, the desire to work with the community to develop schools true to our values and ideals, and who are passionate and committed to teaching and learning. As a SLC teacher leader, I am acutely aware of the unique challenges we face as a district and I have the knowledge and experience to help make SLC schools a model district. We must work together to build the school district we all want - a school district where students are provided an opportunity to explore, develop, and learn in a safe environment. Students should be encouraged to explore career and college options, to develop character and critical thinking skills, and to learn subject knowledge in a real and relevant way in neighborhood schools.
