Candidate: Kellie Hendricks Rhoades

Twelve years ago, Kellie left her career in public accounting in pursuit of public service as Union County’s Clerk & Comptroller.   She has consistently made the difficult choices necessary to safeguard Union County resources and uphold the public trust, and performed her duty as Clerk to report improper actions to the proper authorities. 

As a Certified Public Accountant, Kellie understands the importance of fiscal integrity.  In her twelve years of service, she has confronted tough decisions with unwavering resolve, ensuring that our county's finances are managed responsibly and transparently. She uses her accounting education and experience to serve the citizens of Union County by working hands-on in the county’s finances, reducing the need for additional staff and increasing efficiencies and saving the taxpayers’ dollars.

The Clerk serves as checks and balances to protect the taxpayers, and is charged with enforcing policies and procedures that the Board puts in place.  Kellie holds herself and others to the highest standards, ensuring that Union County government operates with honesty, efficiency, and accountability.  

The Clerk’s role does not stop with the county finances, but also serves as the County Recorder and Clerk of the Courts.  Kellie and her team have worked together to improve processes, and have moved to an entirely paperless system.  Last year, they began a project to digitize historical records, enabling citizens to search county records more easily.  They have digitized and indexed all marriage licenses back to the county’s founding in 1921.  She has launched a new jury application, allowing citizens to submit excusals electronically through the portal, and also to pre-register if they would like to receive a text or email to notify them of a jury summons.

As your Clerk of Courts & Comptroller, Kellie is dedicated to building upon her team’s progress and advancing initiatives that will benefit all residents of Union County. She will continue to make informed decisions, hold herself and others accountable, and restore the integrity of Union County’s government.
