Candidate: David S. Broskie

In March of 2020, David Broskie was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to lead Clay County Schools. This was one week prior to the world-wide pandemic and the closure of schools in Florida and the country.  Through his steady and consistent leadership, Clay County Schools emerged from the pandemic as an “A” rated, top-10 school district.  He was able to skillfully navigate the unique challenges presented during these unprecedented times. In November of 2020, he was elected by the citizens of Clay County to serve as Superintendent of Schools. 

Superintendent Broskie has had a long and distinguished 33-year career with Clay County District Schools. He began his career as a teacher and coach at Lakeside Junior High School before moving to Clay High School and taking on the leadership role of assistant principal.  Superintendent Broskie continued to progress in his career as he became principal at Orange Park Junior High School, Middleburg High School, and then transitioned to Oakleaf High School leading each school to an "A" ranking recognized by the state of Florida. 

In 2015, Superintendent Broskie was selected to become the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. In this leadership role in Human Resources, Superintendent Broskie worked tirelessly, advocating for increased compensation and supports for the district's  nearly 5,000 employees. His people-centric approach has made a true difference in the lives of many. 

Superintendent Broskie has a passion for teaching and learning, and providing world-class educational opportunities for the students of Clay County. Under his leadership as Superintendent of Schools, Clay County District Schools has maintained its “A” rating and continues  to be a top-10 school district in the state, along with recording the highest graduation rate in the history of Clay County schools for our seven traditional high schools at 95% for the 2021-2022 school year. Superintendent Broskie looks forward to continuing and building upon the successes that the district has enjoyed in recent years.

Superintendent Broskie is a lifelong learner and is a certified Superintendent of Schools. He is actively involved with the Florida Association of District School Superintendents (FADSS), and during the 2022-2023 school year, Superintendent Broskie completed the Chief Executive Officers Leadership Development Program through FADSS and the Florida Department of Education.
