Candidate: Michele E Hanson

Hello! 

In 2002, my family put down roots in Clay County and it quickly became home. I’m passionate about education, having served our children in Clay County Schools for 18 years. I obtained my Masters degree in Special Education with a certificate in Educational Leadership. I was blessed to receive the Florida Agricultural Teacher of the Year (TOY) in 2016, Clay County school-level TOY three times, Clay County top 5 TOY, Walmart TOY, and appointed to the State Curriculum Advisory Commission serving for three years. I currently have 9 teaching certifications, but spent most of my years teaching English and Intensive Reading from 4th - 10th grade. Having a daughter that followed in my footsteps to become a teacher is one of my proudest moments as a mother.​

I also have the honor of being a military wife. My husband served on active duty (Army) for 24 years and proudly served as Chief Operational Officer for the Multinational Force and Observers (Egypt).​

I’m running to:​

           Empower our students by creating standard focused lessons,  setting high expectations, and helping them to develop the essential critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to face real world challenges.​

           Empower parents by supporting parental rights, building bridges of clear communication between school and home, and encouraging parents to have an active role in their student's education. 

           Empower teachers by allowing them to get back to the fundamentals of teaching , providing high-quality instructional resources and training; and ensuring they have the support educators need  to create outstanding learning environments for students.​
