Candidate's Statement

At Northrop Grumman

Matt is the Manager, Project Management Support Group for Technical Publications in the Global Sustainment and Modernization Division, Autonomous and Tactical Air Systems business unit at Northrop Grumman Defense Systems.

In January 2021, Matt was elected Enterprise Board Chairman, Chief Administrative Officer, and Spokesperson for Northrop Grumman’s PrIDA Employee Resource Group. In this role, he represents 20 domestic site chapters and over 2,000 employees globally. He partners with sector and enterprise-level executive leaders to influence positive change and drive policies that affect employees. Through partnerships and collaboration with members of the Enterprise Board, he provides strategic direction on growth and development opportunities to ensure organizational initiatives align with Northrop Grumman's business objectives.

Past Experience

Matt was previously assigned to the Northrop Grumman Technical Training Management System (TTMS) Program at Northrop Grumman Information Technology in Biloxi, Mississippi in 2004. Later, Matt was part of the Sector Communications team (2006) and the State & Local Government Relations team (2007) at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Matt transitioned to the Technical Publications program in St. Augustine, Florida in 2011.

Education

Matt is a member of the Lambda Kappa Chapter of Delta Mu Delta, an International Honor Society in Business. He is a Presidential Inductee of the National Society of Leadership and Success; was awarded an academic excellence scholarship to Capella University in 2020, and was on the 2021 President’s List at Capella University for academic excellence.     Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

    As a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, Matt supports initiatives in the workplace and strives to find ways to make it happen in a way that benefits all involved. As a DE&I champion, Matt has challenged the status quo and takes a leading role to ensure DE&I initiatives remain at the forefront of discussions, oftentimes by telling his own story. One such story was featured in Northrop Grumman’s 2021 Second Quarter ONEMagazine.

    Matt is a key workplace equality stakeholder and has been instrumental in bringing organizational change, awareness, and education on LGBTQ+ issues at Northrop Grumman and has led Northrop Grumman’s participation in the Greater Jacksonville Area HIV/AIDS Awareness Get Inspired 6K Walk/Run in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Matt also worked closely with the Enterprise Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion team, employees, and LGBTQ+ allies to bring about Northrop Grumman’s first virtual employee resource group (ERG) chapter in October 2015; an aerospace and defense industry first. As the Sector Virtual PrIDA Chair and Enterprise PrIDA Chairperson, Matt worked with sector employees, allies, and leadership to help foster an inclusive environment, improve quality of life at work for LGBTQ+ workers and allies, build awareness, and engage in community support, corporate responsibility and outreach.

    United States Military

    Matt served honorably in the United States Air Force as an Intelligence Operations Specialist, with a concentration in Enemy Weapons Systems and pilot defensive countermeasure and counter-tactics.

    Family

    Matt lives with his husband David in Northeast Florida. David is a retired US Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman and they were married in Salem, MA in 2013 after the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. They have a daughter, Marrissa, who is an engineering aide in the United States Navy; a son, DJ, who is an avionics electrical technician in the U.S. Air Force; and two Boston Terriers Bree and Sophie.
