Candidate's Statement

Ronnie Robinson was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. After honorably serving in the Marine Corp, he purchased property in Clay County where he has lived for 48 years. He and Jane, his wife, have been married for 54 years and are members at Russell Baptist Church. They have 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and a great grandson, all who call Clay County their home. Ronnie is honored to be endorsed by the current Tax Collector, Jimmy Weeks

Ronnie has either owned or operator a successful business for 40 years. His dealership, Ronnie Robinson Dodge and Jeep, received several top customer service awards year after year. Working in the automotive industry allowed him to work directly with the Department of Motor Vehicles and gain an understanding of title work, taxes, licensing fees, insurance, tags and registrations. This invaluable experience will make him successful as the next Tax Collector.

Serving Clay County is a priority for Ronnie. He has worked on the 4H Foundation Board, St. Johns River Community College Foundation Board, JP Hall Children’s Charity Scholarship Committee, St. Vincent’s Cabinet, which brought St. Vincent’s Hospital to Clay County, and the Supervisor of Elections canvassing board for 9 elections.

During his 8 years as Clay County Commissioner, he was the Chairman for the Policy Rules Committee, Human Services Committee, and Finance and Audit Committee.  In the first 18 months as Commissioner, he made 31 policy changes to benefit the citizens of Clay County. Below are just a few examples:

  •  Saved taxpayers 22 million dollars by changing the Lake Asbury Master Plan and modifying the width and medians on Henley Road
  • Only Commissioner to fight against BIG LEAGUE DREAMS saving the county 25-30 million and possibly more
  • Opposed re-writing Adult Entertainment Ordinance making it legal with restrictions and costing the citizens of Clay County with staff time close to $300,000
  • Opposed  extending Clay County infrastructure surtax from 15 to 20 years

Ronnie, as a commissioner, owner, or manager has always maintained an open door policy for others to bring their concerns to him. He truly loves to interact with the public and find out what their concerns are, so that he may better serve them. Ronnie is a true conservative who has proven he will stand up for the citizens of Clay County. His leadership skills, hard work ethic, and business experience make him the most qualified candidate for Clay County Tax Collector.
