Candidate's Statement

As a resident of the Jupiter Inlet District I have seen how lucky we are to live in such a great place. With a plethora of things to do from fishing, going to the beach, or simply just spending a day cruising the waterways with family, we live in a great place with a great community vibe. This is something I want to protect, and this is why I am running for commissioner of the Jupiter Inlet district. It is so important to me to protect our waterways and keep them safe for generations to come. I currently work as a Research Assistant at the Jupiter Brain Institute and I am an avid pilot and boater. I enjoy being able to work and enjoy the wonderful area we live in and am blessed to call this great district my home.

There are many things in our district that have been overlooked. From the Jupiter Inlet not being dredged this year because the district did not have the required surveys completed in due time. To the collapsing edges of the Jupiter lighthouse park, these are just a few of the problems that have been overlooked. Not only do these problems effect our environment, but by not resolving these problems now more tax dollars will have to be spent to resolve them in the future. This is why I have decided to run. These problems will cost tax payers more money and as Commissioner I will look into these problems right a way, finding a cost-effective solution to fix these avoidable problems.

Many of the things I want to work on in our district is to start offering educational literature about local knowledge to boat rental agencies. Many residents have voiced their concerns about the many boaters who are renting boats or first time boaters that go out on the water and cause inconveniences for our local regular boaters. By offering such a program boaters can familiarize themselves with rules and recommendations of boating before they go out on the water. Partnering with BoatUS I would offer free Boat Safety and Boat licensing courses to all. This would create safer waterways and more courteous boaters for our area.

Some other things I would work on in, is protecting the Jupiter Inlet from the rising sea level as well as actively monitoring bacteria and water conditions. Many residents have told me that the excess freshwater and pollution entering the Loxahatchee river has gotten them sick and damaged marine life. Finding preventative ways to avoid this and working with other agencies to fix such problems will be my priority. As a special taxation district, the Jupiter inlet district collects Ad-valorem property tax. When I'm commissioner I will advocate and find ways to prevent the increase of the millage rate on your property taxes, keeping them low.

All these and more are just a few of the things I plan on doing as Commissioner of the Jupiter Inlet District 1. Working together with the community to hear their concerns and keeping them informed is so important to me. I hope on August 18th you make the smart choice by voting for André "Dré" Rajoo to help improve and make a difference in our community that benefits generations to come.
