Candidate's Statement

Anne Gannon has a rich, distinguished, and diverse record of public service in Florida.

Elected in 2006 to serve Palm Beach County as its Constitutional Tax Collector, Anne saw an immediate opportunity to revamp an antiquated bureaucracy into an innovate, customer-focused service agency. She holds the distinction of being the first woman ever elected to this role in Palm Beach County.

Anne is responsible for the efficient collection and disbursement of more than $4 billion in tax revenue in Palm Beach County property taxes annually, which support critical services in the community. As an agent for the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, she is also responsible for issuing REAL ID compliant driver licenses. The agency she leads employs over 300 dedicated staff members who serve the public from 6 service centers, an administrative office and one call center located throughout the county. Collectively, the agency completes an average of 80,000 client transactions each. The agency serves over 800,000 clients in person each year.

As an active member and current president of the Florida Tax Collectors Association (FTCA), Anne fights for legislative changes to Florida statutes that will improve government efficiency, protect taxpayer’s rights and reduce costs. She is a four-time recipient of the Legacy Award for Excellence in Financial Operations, the highest honor bestowed on a tax collector by the FTCA.

Anne also received the Excellence in Government Leadership award from the National Association of Government Accountants. A proponent of continuous improvement, Anne addressed the International Deming Research Center at Fordham University, where she shared the agency’s best practices for innovation and quality management.

She served 12 years on the Board of Directors JFK Hospital and has been the Honorary Chair of the West Palm Brain Cancer 5K Run from 2008 - 2013.
