Candidate: Angelo Garcia Cuadra

Hello everyone! My name is Angelo Garcia, and I am running to become your next Town Councilman here in the beautiful Town of Miami Lakes. I am a 23-year resident here in the Town of Miami Lakes and this is my first time running for office because it is important that we keep our Town Council accountable. Living here for over 20 years has given me key insight as to what our Town really needs and what our neighbors truly need. 

For some time, I was a part of the Blasting Advisory Board, which is the board that advocates on your behalf when it comes to blasting. During this past Florida state legislative session, the board was able to travel to Tallahassee and during that trip we were able to advocate on behalf of Miami Lakers, I was able to sit down and talk with State Officials regarding the horrendous effects blasting has on our beautiful town. Although the impacts of blasting will take some time to reduce, I am going to keep on advocating on behalf of Miami Lakers to ensure that those effects do subside as quickly as possible. 

As a long-time resident here in the Town of Miami Lakes, I want to make sure that we do not raise taxes for our residents. This is because I don't believe that there has been reason to increase the amount anyone pays in recent years. This also goes along with the issue on the $19.5 million Optimist Park Bond. I don't support the mortgage the people advocating for the issue want to place on our Town. Putting us in more debt is not the answer. The answer is looking for the funds needed through other means. Now, this may need the Joint Use Agreement (JUA) to be revised to allow for these changes. 

Another issue that has been around that I would like to bring to the attention of the Council is the broken sidewalks and encroachment on property lines caused by improper maintenance of trees. I would like to propose that we have a special allocation for this issue and that we start fixing the sidewalks to ensure that we do not continue to have the liabilities that this issue causes towards the Town.
