Candidate's Statement

I am Marsha Farmer Sherrouse.  I am a Republican candidate seeking the office of The Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller, also know as the Clerk of Court.  I’m a life long resident of Holmes County.  I’m the daughter of Pauline Steverson Farmer and the late, Max Foster Farmer, Sr. and the niece of Ike Steverson (Beverly), Marshall Steverson (Gerry), Maxine Bell (Ed), Cricket Griffin (Jeff), Leroy Steverson (Teen), Catherine Owens, and Corine Steverson and the late Madaline McFatter, Willard Steverson, and Lynn Steverson. My husband Calvin and I, we have four children, Cal, Monica, Carl and Craig and we have eight grandchildren. I have worked in Public Service for 40 years.  In all of my endeavors, I’ve always served the public with excellence and have been committed to professionalism, personal service, and used good common sense.  Some of my experience includes accounting, budgeting, office management, and the Court/Judicial System.  I was an office manager of a Million Dollar Insurance Agency, which was subject to audits every year.  I’ve worked in Human Resources with the State of Florida and was responsible for background checks and criminal histories for the hiring process.  With my work experience, I have been able to build my leadership and organizational skills, layer by layer, from entry level to experienced management.  This also accompanied by strong work ethics.  Over the past 20 years, I’ve gained crucial work experience in the Court/Judicial System, which is directly related to the Clerk’s Office.

I started my Judicial career in 1999 with the late Judge Robert Earl Brown.  I have been a Judicial Assistant for the County Judge, an Administration Assistant for a Chief of Police, and for the past 10 years, I’ve been the Legal Assistant for the State of Florida, Public Defender’s Office, in the Holmes County Courthouse.  I already utilize the Court’s Comprehensive Case Information System and file in the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal, which are some of the programs the Clerk's Office operates with. I have had numerous job duties and responsibilities that relate to the Court/Judicial System in one way or another and to the duties of the Comptroller.

MY EXPERIENCE MATTERS.  I’m the only candidate with this directly related experience.  Over the past 40 years, I have shown INTEGRITY, COMPASSION, and ACCOUNTABILITY working in public service.  I have developed the KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES to serve you as your HOLMES COUNTY CLERK OF CIRCUIT COURT AND COMPTROLLER.  I live by a very simple rule, and it guides my life from day to day.   “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”  My door will always be open to serve you.
