Candidate: Adam Cummings

Adam Cummings is an eleven-year veteran of the Charlotte County Commission. He has served as the Board’s representative on: · Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority · Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council · Charlotte County - Punta Gorda Metropolitan Planning Organization · West Coast Inland Navigation District · Regional Water Alliance · Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program · SWFWMD Southern Water Use Caution Area Working Group · SWFWMD Liaison · Department of Environmental Protection Harmful Algal Bloom Task Force Some of his recent efforts include leadership roles in: · Retaining $18 million for Charlotte County ratepayers during recent water supply expansion negotiations · Stopping a regional effort to redirect 20% of Charlotte’s water supply to other counties · Lobbying effort for hurricane recovery that to date has helped returned over $50 million federal and state tax dollars to Charlotte County · Negotiating a regional agreement that resulted in the acquisition of $10 million dollars of state funds for Burnt Store Road and Winchester Road South Adam holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation from Texas A&M University at Galveston and a Master of Business Administration from Florida Gulf Coast University. He is a licensed merchant ships’ officer and former Lieutenant in the US Naval Reserve Merchant Marine. Adam was born in Pensacola, FL and raised in Ohio. He has been married to his wonderful wife Terry for 17 years. They are raising two delightful boys. Devin is 10 years old and a new student of martial arts. Colin is 7 years old and a new Cub Scout. Both boys are Sallie Jones Tigers and proud of it! When asked why he is running, Adam responded, “Charlotte County has come a long way in the last decade, but we still face many issues.
