Candidate: Pamela Marshall-Koons

My name is Pamela Marshall-Koons and I am a candidate for Sheriff of Alachua County. I bring a fresh perspective and a deep commitment to justice, equality, and community-centered policing. My vision is to transform our Sheriff's Office into a beacon of trust and respect.

A critical part of this vision is addressing how we handle mental health within our community. We must stop treating mental illness like it's a crime. Instead, we need to focus on compassionate, effective responses that connect individuals to the support and services they need.

I am also committed to addressing systemic inequalities, promoting fair treatment for every individual, and enhancing public safety through comprehensive training and community engagement. While I may not come from a traditional law enforcement background, my extensive legislative and public policy experience, management experience, and collaborations with government agencies have equipped me with the leadership skills and vision needed to enact transformative change.
