With approximately 26 years of experience in classroom instruction and administration, Roody has a wealth of knowledge. Roody’s extensive experience in academic excellence and community engagement sets him apart.

A Personal Connection with Education

Roody’s interest in education began in his formative years growing up in a country where education was not considered a right but a privilege.  His mother was deprived of a formal educational experience and barely acquired a third-grade education.  This background gave him a unique appreciation for education. Roody earned a bachelor's degree in French from Florida International University, a master’s degree in teaching English as a second language (TESOL) from Nova Southeastern University, a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, and another Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of West Florida where he is a doctoral candidate.

His career in education spans over 26 years, during which time he taught reading, English as a Second Language, French, and Spanish.  He has a record of bridging the achievement gap in the classroom as a teacher and administrator. While serving as Yulee High School's Assistant Principal and Principal, he pioneered the first parent-teacher organization (PTO) since the school's inception.  He increased student and parent involvement through that program, which included hosting a college and career fair.

Vision and Goals for Our Schools

Roody’s vision is to bring innovative solutions to the school board. His focus is on creating a challenging and supportive classroom environment.  As a board member, he will bring transparent governance and ensure that the board is fiscally responsible.
