Candidate's Statement

"COACH" JAMES C. JACOBS FOR SCHOOL BOARD DISTRICT 4!

Recognizing the importance of having safety in our schools and in our City, “Coach” Jacobs decided to go back to college and obtain his Bachelors Degree in Public Safety Management, Master of Science Degree in Management and Administration of Educational Programs. Also Currently pursuing his Doctorate Degree in Doctor of Education majoring in Organizational Leadership.

“Coach” Jacobs also received the EMT and First Responder clinical hours and Certificate to become knowledgeable about Community Safety and be well equipped to assist with Public Safety Solutions for our schools, students, parents, faculty and staff.

“Coach” Jacobs has been with Duval County Public Schools since 2001. He is committed to making a difference in students’ lives.

“Coach” stands for school safety, against arming teachers while working to support them, will address truancy issues, swimming pool safety condition issues, will strategically focus on solutions to provide the best education for every student by meeting the needs of every child. “Coach” Jacobs will help every teacher, every student and every parent in District 4 by being a consistent presence in all schools in District 4.

School bus transportation issues

More special needs EBD after school & summer programs

Increasing part-time after school athletic coaches’ stipends

Advocating for more support for PTSA/SAC

Bringing back the individual 7th & 8th grade sports teams, while creating the 6th grade sports teams so that every student has the fair opportunity at making and playing on their school teams.

Advocating for students with mental illness along with increasing educational training/suicide awareness in schools

Advocating school facilities and cafeteria employees and student issues.

Working and understanding the importance of the school unions to help benefit employees rights and benefits.

“Coach supports renovating older schools to better teaching and learning for educators and students. Coach has worked in the public, private and charter school areas to better understand all channels of education.
