Candidate's Statement

Russell “Rusty” Johnson is your District 4 School Board Member serving Nassau County as the representative for the Hilliard and Bryceville areas.  He was born and raised in Nassau County to Russell and Betty Johnson.  His family owned and operated Johnson Brothers Farm in north Hilliard, where he makes his home.    He learned at an early age the importance of hard work and a good education.   This year, his granddaughter began the fifth generation of Johnsons with the Nassau County School system.  It is important to him, a vital decision maker for our school system, to ensure that all students receive the best foundational instruction for their educational needs.  Since occupying the District 4 seat in December of 2018, he has attentively worked alongside a diverse team of professionals who are concerned with doing what is right and what is necessary for our schools.    He utilizes the discipline of integrity and hard work from those early years on the farm, as the foundation of his life and work ethic.  To some, that may seem old school, but he has found these principles helpful with most of life’s situations.  During his career with the USDA, Farm Service Agency (FSA) his educational framework equipped him as he assisted farmers throughout our state with allocations of financial program assistance.  This embodied knowledge, professionalism of policy and integrity while administering the strictest federal guidelines.   He continues to follow these principles today as he complies with policies in accordance to school board regulations.   His commitment for this election cycle highlights proficiency, productivity and provisions as it applies to every school related decision.  As he continues to work diligently to fulfill his responsibilities as School Board member District 4, your vote for him on August 18, 2020 will continue the hope for the betterment of our schools for all stakeholders.
