Reginald “Reggie” Blount is a lifelong resident of Jacksonville and former city council candidate, He attended Duval County Public Schools and earned his bachelor’s in business management, master’s in public policy, and a special graduate certificate in security, stability, and development in complex operations from the Naval Post-Graduate School. Reggie served thirty years in the United States Army with four combat tours, and has held a TOP Secret Security Clearance/SCI. He was deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm (Iraq) in 1991, served two tours in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Croatia. In 2011, Reggie was selected to serve as special liaison for all US Special Operation Forces Equipment Display in Washington, DC under the Obama Administration. While assigned to the US Army Special Operations Command, he served as civil affairs team leader tasked with coordinating with officials from the US Department of State, Department of Agriculture, several foreign dignitaries, and various non-government organizations to help build schools, markets, roads, and provide humanitarian assistance to stabilize and improve infrastructure in Afghanistan. Reggie has served in numerous leadership positions and has instructed and trained over three thousand soldiers and civilians throughout his carrier. In 1998, He was awarded the military outstanding volunteer service medal for his service in teaching, mentoring and coaching track and field at various high schools both stateside and abroad.
In 2016, Reggie retired form the military and accepted a position as Project Coordinator and Adjunct Professor at Florida State College at Jacksonville in adult continuing education. He was also selected chairman of the restructuring committee to help reorganize the Jacksonville Black Chamber. He is currently the Assessment coordinator in partnership with the Florida Department of Children and families at FSCJ. In addition, Reggie and members of his organization work with the male youth mentorship program at Biscayne High School.
Reggie is a member of New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Vice Chairman of housing for the TA Lang community center, a member of the American Center for Law & Justice, American Legion Post 197, and the Disabled Veterans Association, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Reggie was also selected by Marquis “Who’s Who” for 2024.
