Candidate: Darren Horan

Darren was raised in the Florida Keys and attended public school, first starting at Sigsbee School and eventually graduating from Key West High School in 1997.  Darren is a partner at Horan Law, LLP and co-owns several restaurants and a catering company.  His wife, Jessica, is also a graduate of Key West High School and they have three (3) daughters: a 9-year-old at Poinciana Elementary, a 4-year-old in pre-kindergarten at The Basilica School of St. Mary Star of the Sea and a 20-year-old who graduated from Key West High School in 2020 and now attends Georgia Tech in Atlanta. 

Watching his daughters attempt to navigate through an upside-down world during a pandemic was difficult as they each faced such different challenges; from virtual learning and limited personal interaction, to finishing and "celebrating" their Senior Year. 

Darren made his decision to run for School Board because he believes that in order for children to succeed in the classroom, negative outside interferences should be kept as minimal as possible.  He will dedicate his time on the School Board to do just that.  

Darren's community service work includes: Take Stock in Children (Mentor); Board of Directors for the Greater Key West Chamber of Commerce; Chairman of the Key West Military Affairs Committee; Vice-President of the Southernmost Seminoles Club; Coach (youth sports).
