Candidate for Grand Haven CDD Board Seat #4

My wife Lynn and I chose Grand Haven as our home five years ago because of the quality housing, beautiful landscaping, and extensive amenities.  As a member of the CDD board my goal would be to retain those community qualities in a fiscally responsible manner.  I believe my prior board experience in communities like Grand Haven and my more than 30 years of experience managing nonprofit organizations, gives me the knowledge and skills to serve the needs of Grand Haven.

BOARD EXPERIENCE:

Big Canoe, GA – President of the Board for two years, chair of the Board ‘s Strategic Planning and Governance committees and member of the Long-Range Finance committee.

Woodbridge Community in Manteca, CA – Board Treasurer and member of the Board’s Finance and Elections committees.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Canio Negro Development Project – Caracas, Venezuela – Project Director

A rural development project in a small community outside of Caracas, Venezuela

Catholic Charities, Atlanta - CEO and oversight of the following corporations:

·        Catholic Social Services – an agency which provided immigration, family counseling, aging and assisted living and job training services. 

·        CHI – an affordable housing development corporation for elderly and disabled persons. 

·        Catholic Personal Care Homes - President, a management corporation for facilities developed by CHI.

Senior Connections, Atlanta – Executive Director

A multi-service agency providing home and community-based services for elderly and disabled persons, Meals on Wheels, Home Care, Transportation, Home Repair, Senior Centers, and Case Management.

EDUCATION:

BA in Philosophy from University of Washington

MS in Human Resources Management from Georgia State University.
