I am Lauren Ramirez, a dedicated community member, educator, and parent, proudly announcing my candidacy for the Flagler County School Board District 5 seat. My journey in education advocacy began in the footsteps of my father, a professor who founded the accounting program at a college in Maryland. His commitment to education shaped my values and continues to inspire many as his legacy lives on through the George Flynn Memorial Accounting Award, given annually since 1989 to the outstanding degree graduate at his institution. Additionally, a memorial tree planted in his honor stands as a testament to his lasting impact. This deep appreciation for the transformative power of learning is what I am eager to bring to our local schools.

As a resident of Flagler County and a mother of four children attending district schools, I am deeply embedded in the community and invested in the success of our educational system. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science and a Master's degree in Public Health, equipping me with a strong foundation in educational and health sciences. Currently, I run a small business where I teach life-saving skills, further contributing to community safety and well-being.

My professional background spans over twelve years in higher education, where I developed curricula, conducted accreditation visits, and taught numerous students. This experience has given me valuable insights into effective educational practices and standards that I aim to apply to improve our local schools.

Over the past seven years, I have been an active volunteer at several of our county schools, participating in the PTO and serving two years as its president. This role has allowed me to witness the challenges and achievements within our schools and inspired me to pursue a position where I can make a significant impact.

I am committed to ensuring that our children have access to the best educational opportunities. My campaign focuses on enhancing safety protocols, clarifying decision-making processes, setting clear goals, and ensuring that our schools have the necessary resources to succeed. I advocate for conservative values, emphasizing the importance of community involvement and support in shaping our children's future.

As we approach the upcoming election on August 20, I am excited about the opportunity to serve our community and contribute to creating a brighter future for our children and schools. Thank you for considering me for this critical role in Flagler County.
