Trey Nick for County Commissioner: Building a Brighter Future for Walton County

As a proud native of Walton County raised in the heart of our community, I understand the values that make our county special.  With a family history deeply rooted in helping others and promoting values, I am committed to continuing this legacy of service and dedication to our community.

Platform Highlights:

Infrastructure Improvement:  Walton County has experienced significant growth in recent years, yet our infrastructure has difficulty keeping pace.  I will work tirelessly with county, state, and federal agencies to moderate and expand our infrastructure to ensure future growth.

Environmental Protection:  I am a staunch advocate for preserving the Choctawhatchee Bay.  It is a vital ecosystem that sustains our local economy and quality of life.  I will prioritize the protection and sustainability of the bay, working to safeguard the livelihoods of businesses and fisherman that depend on its health.

Affordable Housing:  Recognizing the importance of housing affordability for our workforce, I am committed to promoting initiative that make home ownership attainable for all residents by supporting housing projects and polices to strengthen our economy and ensure a vibrant community for generations to come.

Public Transportation:  I will advocate for the expansion of public transportation options to improve accessibility and mobility for residents across Walton County by enhancing connectivity and ease traffic congestion to make transportation more efficient and convenient for all residents.

Economic Growth in North Walton:  I will focus on promoting economic growth in North Walton.  I aim to create more job opportunities and encourage people in underserved areas of the county by fostering a business-friendly environment and attracting new industries to these areas in North Walton.

Improving Cell Signal:  Recognizing the importance of reliable communication networks, I will work with state and federal agencies to ensure residents and businesses have access to strong and consistent cell service to enhance safety and productivity.

Sustainable Development and Tourism:  As Walton County continues to grow, I advocate for sustainable development practices that preserve our natural resources and cultural heritage.  I seek to balance economic growth with environmental conservation to ensure a prosperous and sustainable future for Walton County.

I have been married to my wife Jennifer for twenty-six years.  We have two children, Aubree and Cade. Cade is a Junior at Freeport High School, and Aubree is in her last semester of college graduating with her BSRN.  Jennifer and I took over my family’s restaurant, Nick’s Seafood Restaurant, January 1,1998 and opened our wholesale seafood business, TreyBayCrabs, in 2003. I do much of our own fishing and crabbing. I also sell to the public and to many local restaurants.  I am proud to be a sponsor of The Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance where I can participate in helping to preserve the natural waterways in Walton County. I am also a sponsor and active supporter of the Autism Spectrum on the Emerald Coast, Inc. My wife and I are sponsors of Freeport Youth Sports, Freeport High School Sports, Freeport Middle School Sports, Freeport Elementary, and the Walton County School District.

I will approach this new position with the energy and enthusiasm that my fellow Walton County citizens have observed from me in my business and civic endeavors over my entire adult life.
