Candidate: Shanna Carter

Dr. Shanna Carter, known as The Purpose Resuscitator, moved from a small town, Albany, Georgia to Jacksonville, Florida at 18.  She has resided in District 9 for over 22 of the last years. 

Shanna has earned an Associates of Arts in Elementary Education and a bachelor’s degree in Business Supervision and Management from Florida State College at Jacksonville.  She has earned a Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law, with focus areas of family, juvenile, entertainment, and business law.

Shanna is a Motivational Speaker, Founder/CEO of Krumpin 4 Success, Inc. and an author. She is currently an Instructor and Proctor for ServSafe National, Pro-Bono Chair for D.W. Perkins Bar Association and New Leaders Council Fellow.   

Shanna has held various positions in the Child Welfare System, speaker for Habijax, court appointed Educational Surrogate, Guardian ad Litem, Domestic Violence Advocate, Adjunct Professor for Edward Waters College (HBCU) Criminal Justice Department at local high schools

Shanna was the First Vice-Chair for National Congress of Black Women Jacksonville, Advisory Board member for Angie Nixon, State Representative District 14, Trustee Member of The Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, committee member of Circuit 4 DJJ Race, Equality, and Inclusion (REI),  Jacksonville Youth Academy Advisory Board Member, Florida Times Union Editorial Board Member, 1st Chef Kulture Culinary Organization Jacksonville Chapter President, Duval Academy Residential Facility Advisory Board Member, 1st Non-Profit Center of North Florida Leadership Accelerator Selectee, Community Pearl by the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. BAZ Chapter and Parents Who Lead Cohort with Jacksonville Public Education Fund. 

Shanna has many recognitions and awards through her community and non-profit work.  She has impacted the lives of our local and statewide youth, Returning citizens, families, small businesses and non-profit founders.  She is the parent to one adult daughter.
