Candidate: Rob Hyatt

Father, Husband: Rob and his wife Lou have been together for 33 years, and have two sons and two granddaughters, all educated in Florida public schools. Born and raised in Alachua County, he has three degrees from the University of Florida, a Bachelor of Music Education, Master of Education, and Specialist in Education. In the Trenches: Rob taught for 38 years serving as band director and music teacher. He spent 15 years at Duval Elementary Fine Arts Academy earning him the Alachua County Teacher of the Year Award in 2009. In 2016 he received the Elected Official Leadership Award from the Florida Alliance for Arts Education. Rob received the 2017-2018 District School Board Member of the Year Award from the Florida Music Education Association. Working For Alachua County: During his 3 years in office, the School Board has successfully implemented raising wages for district employees by 7%, created an office of equity and outreach, championed community schools, and initiated a system of care serving numerous children and families.
