Candidate: M H Carr

MH Carr is running for Walton County School Board, District 5.  She has lived in Walton County for 15 years.  MH has been married to Matthew Carr for 18 years and they have one son who is currently a student in the Walton County School District. She began her involvement in Walton County Schools 10 years ago, when she volunteered to serve on the Board of the Walton Education Foundation.  Four years into volunteering with the Walton Education Foundation and serving as president, MH was hired as the Executive Director.  She is the first non-school district employee to ever serve in this role.  Under her leadership at the Walton Education Foundation, annual revenues increased 781%.  After 10 years, she recently passed the role to a former Walton County School District educator and now does part time bookkeeping for a local retail store.

MH's campaign motto is "You get out what you put in. If you want more, give more."  She hopes to encourage clear and frequent communication from the Walton County School District and School Board on topics from the budget to policy changes and everything in between.  Focus on student achievement by changing and/or adding policies and procedures that will build Walton County's future workforce.  Improve local knowledge of Walton County School District's  resources and actively research additional opportunities for growth and improvement.  Inspire involvement from post-secondary schools to help shape Walton County School District's curriculum to prepare ALL Walton County School District students for post-secondary degrees and future employment.  Engage all stakeholders including students, parents, teachers and community members by being present at School Board meetings and other events.
