Candidate's Statement

Greeting Gadsden County Residents! My name is Kenya Ponder Williams, and I am excited and humbled to announce my candidacy to become your next Gadsden County Supervisor of Elections.

I have worked in the Gadsden County Supervisor of Elections office consistently for 16 years and this experience has uniquely qualified me for this moment. Also, I have served the voters of Gadsden County in various capacities such as Election Systems Coordinator, Deputy Supervisor, and presently your Assistant Supervisor of Elections. Some of my present responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the election’s office, supervising staff, training staff, overseeing the installation of new voting system software, maintaining election equipment, assisting with audits and recounts, assisting with vote by mail canvassing, conducting poll worker trainings, facilitating candidate workshops, conducting voter registration drives and managing all aspects of election administration. In addition, I have extensive training in election security, and have played a crucial role in enhancing the office’s cyber security network to ensure the safety and security of our elections.

During my tenure, I have administered over 67 successful federal, state, county, and municipal elections. I am well versed, educated, and knowledgeable regarding the Florida election laws and have been invited by various entities to share election information, election updates, new election laws, and provide instruction in voter education. These entities include but are not limited to West Gadsden Middle School, Havana Magnet School, Gadsden High School, various churches, fraternities, sororities, rotary clubs, and other non-profit organizations.

I am the daughter of a devoted citizen, Ella Mae Ponder, the mother of two loving and caring children, and the grandmother of three adorable grandchildren. I was born and raised in Gadsden County as well as graduated from James A. Shanks High School in 1990. I am an active member of New Direction Christian Center in Quincy, FL.

Gadsden County has a reputation of conducting successful elections by ensuring your vote is secure and accurate. Let’s continue this legacy and continue to experience successful elections by voting for experience. Allow me to continue to work for you!
