I moved to Flagler County in 1989, as a wife, mother of four children, and a full-time
student studying elementary education. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCF,
and started my first teaching job for Flagler Schools in 1991, where I taught
until retiring in November of 2019. I was rated a Highly Qualified and High Impact
teacher throughout my career. In 2016, my three years averaged student progress
score (VAM) the state used in it’s grading system was the number one score for sixth
grade Math teachers in the State of Florida. During my career, I successfully taught a
wide spectrum of students from those with emotional/behavioral disabilities to the gifted
and talented.
Following retirement, I still had that burning passion to continue advocating for the
students of Flagler County. So in 2020, I became a candidate for school board district 1
in a race to fill the remaining two years of a vacated seat.
As a master teacher, incumbent school board member, and a life long advocate for
children, I understand what students need to succeed and what policies, materials,
resources, and support systems are necessary to enable their success.
