Candidate's Statement

I am Doc Rohan, I am a graduate of the University of Florida where I received my medical degree. I was introduced to Panama City by the USAF at Tyndall AFB where I served in the outpatient clinic. I have lived in Panama City for 50 years. My wife and I have five children and 12 grandchildren, all of them living in Panama City. I opened my orthopedic practice here and I have served the good people of Panama City for 47 years having retired in 2019.

We are fortunate that after our children went off to college, all of them returned and made Panama City their home. It is easy to understand their decision to return. They and so many others recognize the potential of the area. Breathtaking beaches and waterways surround us. Here is where we choose to work and play and enjoy the blessings that abound.

I feel that it is the responsibility of the people to protect and preserve all that we have.  Good government is also responsible to administer and lead in this effort to protect, preserve and grow. The government in Panama City does not adequately perform its designated duty.

The citizens are disappointed and confused:

The city of Panama City has levied a fire tax on every citizen. This tax has nothing to do with fires but provides a means to add money to the general fund. I will lead the commission to abolish this oppressive tax.

Our infrastructure is in a sad state and has been for years, even before hurricane Michael. Roads are full of potholes and leaking water mains. Our city fixes potholes by putting a barricade on top of the damage.

Our marina was destroyed by hurricane Michael. Rather than repairing the marina. It is fenced in and closed off to the public. We have had no Fourth of July celebrations, no boat parades, no fishing from the dock. There is no access to the marina for the community. Our marina has been taken from us.

With your support, I intend to solve these problems.

Please vote  Doc Rohan on April 18
