Candidate's Statement

You may recognize my face from the 2021 Lynn Haven mayoral race. I promised I would be back to run again, and here I am, but this time running for Commissioner of Lynn Haven, seat 4.

I believe I have proven to the city of Lynn Haven that I will put the residents first and foremost. Thus, my decision for withdrawing from the current mayoral position is because a better qualified and seasoned commissioner/leader of 6 years (Judy Tinder) decided to run as well.  There was no hesitation because this race is to ensure that the citizens have the very best representation, and the citizens get their city back.

In order to make that happen, I need your vote. Since 2021, I’ve become an even more active member of our community, witnessing firsthand the type of leadership and changes we need to facilitate to thrive and further continue rebuilding from within.

My objective in life-not just in this race-is to present my most authentic self in everything I do. As a commissioner, this city will receive my full-time commitment, allowing me to strengthen core values while always upholding a strong code of ethics and morality and work towards our biggest problem-stormwater issues. You will be my first priority. I am here to encourage ideas, new modes of efficiency and unity that will tie our community together and cease the division that is taking place.  I promise to take action and make better decisions than we are seeing in the last few years.

Top of mind issues:

1.       HOLD Lynn Haven City personnel and officials to the highest standard. Accountability will be key. The more you know me and the cities dealings, the more you will trust our city again. I promise to be consistent in every possible decision in regards to the cities future.

2.       SLOW down and control city growth. I did not say stop-I said slow down. Preparing for the future means slowing down our too rapid growth of development so that infrastructure and storm water issues catch up with each other. We need to grow with the city in a manner that does not negatively affect our residents or their quality of life. Growth is outpacing the infrastructure repairs at an accelerated rate. Grant money is not free money. Grant money is money from tax payers. If we cannot fix what we own, stop making others pay for past mistakes. Let’s make this our number one priority.

3.       HIRE a City Clerk- It will offer a form of check and balance to many of the cities controversial issues mentioned above. A city clerk will be knowledgeable of municipal policy and demonstrate exemplary administrative, management, and organizational skills.  This will help with my first top of mind issue-HOLD people to accountability.

A short Bio on me.

I am a retired Principal/Administrator/Teacher and former CEO of a small woman owned business from 1992 to 2010.

I am married to a retired US Air Force veteran. I love my family and especially my children and grandchild. I love pets and have the most loving dog to brag about.

Graduated Rowan University with a BA in Psychology along with a long list of educational background from other schools including Administration from Northampton and an impressive financial background from 3 years at Dean Witter Reynolds on Wall Street, where in less than 3 short years, I worked my way up from clerk to a manager of IRA/ Keogh accounts.

My most notable accomplishments include the many community outreach programs I have volunteered for and being an advocate for community resource development and parental rights in schools. As an active donor to recreational leagues, charities, youth athletics, and development of new facilities, I was able to foster lasting relationships within the communities while helping serve their needs. A list below with show you a diverse array of community volunteer organizations, but I need to stress the position I held as President of my HOA from 2019 to the present. I came on board after Hurricane Michael to rebuild our community. What I found was a shocking paper trail of misused funds by a past board from 2016 to April of 2019. I conducted an audit on our financial records and found that CD money put aside was spent irresponsibly. I have since set about to right this situation and have since been able to bring us in the black and repay a “loan” to replace 60% of those funds in less than 3 years.
