Candidate: Joe Brown

Hi Everyone,

My name is Joe Brown, and I am a candidate for Lynn Haven Commissioner Seat 1 in the upcoming April election. During the last 5 years the City of Lynn Haven has contunued rebuilding and moving forward from a major hurricane, allegations and an investigation of public corruption, and the Covid-19 pandemic and due to the hard work of city staff and elected officials the future of our city is very bright indeed. During the next few months we will see the reopening of the Sports Complex, completion of the new City Hall, completion of the Rails to Trails project, and beginning construction of the new Library. We are regularly seeing new businesses opening and others inquiring about coming to Lynn Haven, increased construction of housing and new families moving to Lynn Haven. We must continue to be looking forward and continue to grow while maintaining the things that attracted all of us to Lynn Haven originally. A first class school system, police and fire protection that is constantly working to make our city safe, and safe neighborhoods where we can raise our families.

With over 20 years of experience as an accountant, auditor, investment manager, and finance director in local and county government I believe I can effectively help the city to continue to grow. Our leadership by both elected officials and city staff must contine to continue to be forward looking and must join with other municipalities, county and state leaders and agencies to work for the good of Lynn Haven and all of Bay County. Since returning to Bay County, I have been involved at both the city and county level. I have served on the Lynn Haven CRA Advisory Board for the past 4 years andhave served as chairman for the past 2 years. I have also served on the Bay County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee for the past year as we look for solutions to bring more affordable husing options to Bay County. Involvement in these areas have allowed me to develop relationships with city, county, and state leaders that we will need to partner with in order to keep our city growing.
