Candidate: Earl M. Johnson, Jr.

Earl M. Johnson, Jr., Esquire is the managing partner at the Johnson Law Group, located in downtown Jacksonville. The Law Firm is dedicated to the representation of small businesses. Earl has recently announced his candidacy for the Jacksonville City Council, District 4. A third generation Jacksonville native, Earl is the son of late Attorney and City Councilman Earl M. Johnson and retired Professor Janet R. Johnson. Earl’s father was a noted civil rights attorney, who represented Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and filed nearly all of the school desegregation cases prosecuted in Florida. Earl’s mother taught in public schools and at Jacksonville University for a total of 48 years. Earl is a graduate of Bishop Kenny High School, Florida State University, and Stetson University College of Law. After passing the Bar exam in 1993, Earl associated with Holland & Knight, Florida’s largest law firm. He has clerked for three (3) federal judges, assisting in the preparation of court opinions and orders. Earl has formerly served at the national level in the American Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division, and as general counsel to the Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association. Earl is committed to the needs of children and underprivileged in our community. He is the immediate-past Chairman of the Jacksonville Community Council Forward Initiative and serves on the JCCI Board of Directors, the Salvation Army of Northeast Florida Board of Directors, the Child Guidance Center Board of Directors, the Jacksonville Film Festival Board of Directors, the Crime Stoppers Board of Directors, the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville Board of Directors and is a former member of the Clara White Mission Board of Directors.
