Candidate's Statement

Bryan R. Rendzio is a Circuit Judge in the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, which includes Flagler, St. Johns, Volusia and Putnam Counties. Judge Rendzio and his wife, Stacy have two young boys. He considers his family his foundation. Judge Rendzio is active in the community. He enjoys coaching his sons’ baseball. He is a volunteer on task forces dealing with the opioid crisis, domestic violence, and unaccompanied/homeless youth in the Seventh Circuit.

He is a graduate of Florida State University and Florida Coastal School of Law, where he was managing editor for Law Review and also served on moot court. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2001. He also is licensed in the District of Columbia.

Prior to being appointed Circuit Judge in 2019, he was licensed to practice before the Eleventh and Fifth Circuit Courts of Appeals, all Florida federal courts and the Supreme Court of the United States. He specialized in complex commercial and construction litigation as an attorney and is board certified by the Florida Bar in the area of construction law. He achieved an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell (the highest peer-review rating possible from the organization). In addition to a successful career as a trial lawyer, Judge Rendzio was also a mediator and arbitrator. As such, he held multiple certifications from the Florida Supreme Court; the Division of Florida Condominiums, Timeshares; the Department of Financial Services; the American Arbitration Association, and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Judge Rendzio’s honors and recognition include leadership positions on the Florida Bar’s Construction Law Certification Review Course Committee and its Construction Law Institute Committee. He also served on the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section/Fidelity & Surety Committee. Judge Rendzio is a recipient of the Construction Law Committee’s “Rising Star” Award, an award bestowed upon only one individual each year.

Today, Judge Rendzio presides over the Unified Family Court Division in St. Johns County. He has a wide-ranging docket, which includes dissolution and paternity matters; juvenile delinquency; dependency; truancy; adoptions; Baker Act hearings; Marchman Act hearings; injunctions; and Risk Protection Orders (RPO’s).

Judge Rendzio also is a liaison with the legal community. In 2019, he was asked by the Flagler Bar Association to serve as a Judicial Ambassador for the organization.  He also serves as Judicial Liaison to the Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section.
