Candidate's Statement

I'm running for County Commission. This wasn't a planned thing, as a matter of fact some know I've been actively recruiting for others to step up and serve. Well a few people turned the tables on me and convinced me that the reasons why I wasn't running weren't good enough. They wanted me to be the candidate, so I am officially running for the Board of County Commissioners District 5.

I am running as a No Party Affiliation (NPA) candidate. As a conservative, the actions of our current County Commission has caused me to run NPA. I have never asked nor received the support of the Flagler County political establishment and I'm not about to start now. Most know I am an equal opportunity offender and I'm not a fan of the political chattering class of Flagler County. I doubt many will be surprised by my decision.

We have lived in Florida for 28 years. My wife and I moved to Palm Coast after the birth of our son 17 years ago. I have been a small business owner for the last 10 years in the technology industry. I have both a white and blue collar background with experience in technology integration, security and surveillance, loss prevention, asset protection, airport retail operations and management, retail management and started my working life in the restaurant industry. As the son of a mechanic, I was taught from a young age to be a Jack of all trades and I even mastered a few along the way. Money is always better spent in your own pocket if you can fix things yourself, is what my Dad would say.

Why are you running for County Commission? Why in the heck would you want to go through running for office again? These are very common questions I've been asked, both are really easy to answer. The first, because we need a County Commissioner who's willing to listen because the voting record of our current occupants show that they don't. The second, because you are worth it, somebody has got to do it and I like to do my own homework. I think I'm very well suited for the job.

Over the next months we will be building the case of why change is needed on the County Commission and you may come to figure out whether I'm your pick for the job. If you have questions along the way, feel free to ask. The greatest need right now is participation and if you're not interested in the process, that is fine, that is why I want the job. There are other ways to help.

What we need is involvement and the sharing of ideas and opinions. I only deal in facts and opinions that are derived from the gathering and sharing of those facts. There is enough of that other nonsense elsewhere, you won't get it from me. If you're ready to get to work, I hope you'll join us and help fix what's broke.

Our campaign Facebook page is Paul Anderson for County Commission, @Anderson4Cc on Twitter or paulanderson4cc@gmail.com if you prefer email, drop me a line sometime. This is a trying time for all of us, so a distraction from the Coronavirus may be welcome. If you have a question, ask, I answer all questions. If you want to help, you will have that opportunity as well.

This will be a difficult time but we will all get through it stronger and better than we were before. We can fix what is wrong in Flagler County, we have already seen what can be done if we stick together. Tell your family, your friends and your neighbors. It's time to #FlaglerFixit!
