I am a write-in candidate.  I am testy about Jacksonville because our children need me to be.  Our teenagers are foremost among them and that is why I am highlighting a ninth grade class photo for my candidate profile.  I have degrees and a professional background in both science and penology.  I have worked in the field of criminal justice and continued to analyze its data all of my adult life.  I have been employed in juvenile halls, ranches, group homes, and work-release houses in Florida, California and Oregon.  Even during the decade I worked in Silicon Valley supporting advanced high technology, research, development, engineering and manufacturing, I stayed current in criminology as a volunteer associate prison chaplain.  I also served with the Jacksonville Journey for five years; the at-risk student I mentored at Stilwell and then Lee is now a Sergeant stationed with the U.S. Army in South Korea.  I am a member of the Westside Neighborhood Accountability Board, one of four diversion programs across Jacksonville for  youthful offenders under the authority of the Duval County Teen Court.

However, and perhaps more importantly, I have been uniquely prepared for public service by my survival and recovery from an identification crisis similar to Stockholm Syndrome.  After a Dade County family court judge awarded my father visitation rights when I was ten years of age, I was lured from Miami to San Francisco by my mother and her parents expressly to evade that mandate.  We hear a lot about challenges faced by the children of dead beat dads, but when your mother nurtures and bathes you in lies you will sink or swim by God's grace alone.  With a concerted effort over the early chapters of my life, my mother's family succeeded in cajoling me to turn my back on a good provider and protector, a devoted, intelligent, loving father and combat wounded hero of WWII who deserved better.  He and I endured two decades of separation and alienation from each other.  Unbeknownst to him, for five of those years I lived under the assumed alias of Earl Logan.  Neither did he know that I attended boarding schools and colleges thousands of miles away.  His adult daughter and ex-inlaws rebuffed his inquiries about my location.  You may well imagine my strong identification with the ordeals of our very own Kamiyah Mobley, a.k.a. Alexis Manigo, along with so many other kidnappings we've read about over the years.  Likewise I ask you, who suffered more than the loving patriarch Jacob and his abducted son Joseph?  My dystopian tribulations drew me to the field of criminal justice where a preponderance of our criminals and delinquents are exposed to a commonality of filial and socio-economic dysfunction as myriad as ice crystals.  My intractable abducent relations are all deceased now, including maternal aunts and uncles who aided and abetted my mother from a warped sense of love and devotion.  Only their children remain to justify their parents' legacies in word and deed.  And, as my father's beloved only begotten son, I am the primary defender of his legacy.  Isabella Baumfree, the former slave and abolitionist, devised her assumed alias of Sojourner Truth as a public persona dedicated to the doctrine that the Lord is sovereign, His word and will the final arbiter of truth.  I am not a career politician; on the other hand, I have been discretely qualified to make intuitive decisions for the well being of the residents of District 14 and Greater Jacksonville.  Friedrich Nietzsche was right about one thing, that which does not kill me makes me stronger.  I can look the Mayor, City Council President, and Shad Khan in the eye without blinking, even if saying, "No."

I am gratified to be a write-in candidate because promotion comes from the Lord.  My name will not appear on the ballot in March, so I will be the Lord's dark horse candidate.  If a majority of  District 14 electors should make the deliberate effort to write in Earl Testy for their City Councilman, we may say, "This is the Lord's doing; It is marvelous in our eyes."  Please join me in getting testy about the tragic decline and decay in Jacksonville.    Write in EARL TESTY for District 14 City Council.  Thank you.
