Candidate: Diallo-Sekou Seabrooks

Diallo-Sekou Seabrooks is running for District 8 City Council to rebuild & sustain a better quality of life for all to enjoy. He knows everyone deserves a safe and vibrant area in which we can raise our families and run our businesses. He will support strong legislation on health, health facilities and expand District 8 access to quality healthcare that people can afford, especially people with pre-existing conditions. We do not want people to have to choose between paying a bill or getting the medicine, they need. As a City Council Member, he will oppose any ongoing special interests that’s harboring the progression of District 8. We will deal with the systemic environmental issues to resolve them and make sure it never happen again. He will always ensure District 8 is a beautiful and safe place for all. Diallo-Sekou Seabrooks was born in Jacksonville to his mother Shelia Williams a retired city worker and school teacher of Duval county and his father Malachi “Bo” Beyah a community activist and business owner. He received a degree from Tampa Tech Institute and an honorary degree of Doctorate of Divinity from The Holy Tabernacle Ministries. He went on to become a national activist, business owner in the profit and nonprofit sector. As an activist, Diallo-Sekou Seabrooks lead the peaceful protest for police body cameras, which JSO has now, he helped lead the charge of getting former State Attorney Angela Corey out of office. He created attention to the need to re-visit consolidation and its long terms effects on District 8 and other areas. He is responsible for the city seeking to create a citizen review board to create a stronger voice for the community and transparency from the Sheriff Department. Diallo-Sekou Seabrooks for 15 years and currently holds Townhall Meetings to organize and empower the people of his community for one voice to take to City Hall, the School Board, The Sherriff Department and the State Attorney’s Office. Because of this dedication and resolve in the community this has allowed open dialogs for solutions with the top officials in the city of Jacksonville. Diallo-Sekou Seabrooks is now running for City Council because “We Deserve Better” District 8 Deserves Proven Leadership that can take what the people want to the city .. We need a fresh approach to solving and resolving the problems of District 8 and get our local government back on track. He lives with his wife Angela Seabrooks and their two son. 2000 Diallo-Sekou wrote his first book titled “What is this State Mind?”. He continued public speaking, volunteering and collaborating with Project Open Hand & feeding the homeless throughout Atlanta, Ga. 2001 he opened his Art Gallery/Studio in Jacksonville Florida, where he ran events & programs for urban children. 2003 he established an Human Rights & Political organization called The Kemetic Empire whose mission statement is “The Upliftment of Mankind”. Under The Kemetic Empire he has traveled the country lecturing and holding workshops. Advocating for victims rights. He has written his 2nd Book “Understanding Jurisdiction for Moors in North America”. Diallo-Sekou is the CEO of Private Side Media which deals with all forms of media, the most recent film “We Remember Raines” 2012 Summit of the Moors was established and done quarterly for 2 years where was geared under group economics and secure economics. The forums initiated the Sankofa Initiative as well as Urban Geoponics to address many of the issues of in the community with economics, health, politics and food. 2014 the first Malcolm X Festival was established and has been an annual event done every year. Sankofa Saturdays : An African Centered approach done throughout the summer every Saturday to help children in the community build communication and life skills through activities and fun exercises. Warm Hearts, Warm Heads and Warm Hands was established and done on some of the coldest mornings he gives out gloves and caps to students at the bus stop. Cycle for Change was established and done to help recycle bikes and give children in the community bikes to ride to promote exercise and help prevent obesity. Diallo-Sekou is also CEO of Urban-GeoPonics a non –profit that deals with executing sustainable concepts around owning natural resources and creating inheritable wealth for the children. He has worked with two different 4H clubs on gardening and healthy eating/living habits at S.P. Livingston and Eugene Butler. Where in 2012 established the Moors Eastside Farm and currently New Town Urban Farm/ The Farmacy. He also is an integral part of the Earn to Learn program which is done out of New Town Urban Farm focusing on the youth in the community and sustainability. (Jax, Fl, Detroit , MI, Atlanta, Ga, Louisiana) 2016 he established The Black Commission establishing the Black Agenda : Polical, Education, Economic & Medical Committees ( Jax, FL, Richamond , VA.) Three trips to Flint , MI to deliver water and Zero Water pitchers door to door, food drive & health drive. Four trip to Baton Rouge , LA for the Alton Sterling family and to deliver money , toiletry items etc. Clothing to flood victims. Operation Jacksonville supporting hurricane victim in Jacksonville ,f l. with tree cutting and removing large limbs, primarily for the elders He has sat and serves on several boards and remains entrenched as an Organizer and Activist in the community today. The Kuumba Festival, The Cater G. Woodson, Hurting Families with Children in Crime, Million More Movement as the Minister of Education, Diallo-Sekou holds an Annual Summit based on Agriculture and Co-Operative Economics , Vice President of SCLC, He was on the frontline during Trayvon Martin was murdered, Jordan Davis, Charles Smith, When Marissa Alexander was seeking a retrial, he stood outside demonstrating the Michael Dunn trail. Helped organize Baton Rouge and shut down the interstate in protest of Alton Sterling’s murder . Led the “Jax 19” in Jacksonville , Fl with shutting down Interstate 95 and The Harts bridge in a day in protest to local and national issue plaguing the black community. He has led the charge for local Sherriff department to getting body cameras & The city of Jacksonville meeting on creating a Civilian Review Board revisiting Consolidation of the city and beaches . Several trips to Tallahassee to sit with the administration to end School to Prison Pipeline and automatic restoration of ex-felons and the alarming unemployment rate of African Americans in Jacksonville, job creation for the youth. He created Duval Entertainment Commission to end violence in the clubs.
