Candidate's Statement

Brevard County Florida, January 17, 2023 – Robert L. Jordan, Jr. has announced his candidacy for Brevard County Commissioner, District 1, representing Northern Brevard County.

For more than 35 years, Jordan has advocated for Brevard County citizens, especially in the areas of education, economic development and health care.

Education

As the first African-American Brevard County School Board Chairman, Jordan optimized school system costs through smart spending. By doing so, he and his team helped increase their revenue. This allowed money to be invested back into the school system through much-needed upgrades, such as the construction of the Titusville High and Astronaut High football stadiums, science center and performing arts building. Infrastructure isn’t the only investment Jordan made during his time as chairman. He also helped hardworking teachers and staff get the raises they deserved.

Economic Development

During his service as Vice Mayor of Titusville, Jordan supported initiatives to improve the quality of life of citizens in need. He approved $8.6 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds, which are utilized for housing and food assistance programs. His work to improve the lives of locals didn’t end there. Jordan approved re-paving more than 50 miles of roads, enhancing the safety of those who use them. He also pushed to install baffle boxes to help remove pollutants from stormwater. This also helped prevent those same pollutants from entering the Indian River Lagoon. If elected as Brevard County Commissioner, Jordan will ensure north Brevard receives its fair share of millions in taxpayer funds earmarked for parks, open spaces and Lagoon improvements.

Health Care

Health is the greatest wealth of all. As Chairman of Parrish Medical Center (an evidence-based healing hospital), Jordan has worked to ensure that Brevard County residents have access to the best in health care. Executives nationwide traveled to PMC to learn about and recreate its infrastructure back in their own communities. Due to its innovative approach and patient-first practices, PMC won the “Hospital of Choice Award” from the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers. The staff there was held in just as high regard as the patients.

Business Leader

In addition to his civic roles, Jordan serves as President and CEO of Genesis VII, a trusted procurement and logistics company. For 35 years, the company has provided continuous, high quality service to clients such as Disney, Universal and SeaWorld, along with numerous space and government-related contractors. Under Jordan’s guidance, the company’s client roster has tripled. Sales have also increased from $2 million to $5.3 million in a five-year period.

Prior to his acquisition of Genesis VII in 2011, he held the position of Engineering Process Manager for the primary contractor on the U.S. Space Shuttle Program at Kennedy Space Center.

Jordan ensures that Genesis VII isn’t just a profitable company, but one that supports the greater community. The company makes monetary and physical donations to:

-      Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida

-      Boy Scouts

-      Junior Achievement

-      Women’s Center of Brevard County

-      Wounded Warrior Project

-      SPCA of Brevard

-      Child Advocacy Center of Brevard

-      Riverview Pilot Club of Titusville

-      United Way

-      Down Syndrome Association of Brevard

-      Jess Parrish Medical Foundation

-      New Life Space Coast

-      Viera Charter School

Although he doesn’t serve others for the recognition, Jordan has received awards like the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal, Junior Achievement Business Laureate Award, Bishop’s Award for Business and Service to the Community, Leadership Star Award, and the Brevard Walk of Fame, among others.

Family Man

The pride of Jordan’s life — and greatest supporters of his community service endeavors — are his lovely wife of nearly 44 years, Karen, and their two wonderful children, Robert III (manager of operations at Genesis VII, Inc.) and Kristina (manager of system test engineering for a large Florida aerospace company).

“What you want and expect from a county commissioner is performance, respect, responsiveness, and the ability to work with focus toward important goals,” Jordan says. “My experience means I can be effective for the people of the district as of my first day as a county commissioner.”
