Candidate's Statement

Retired Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Chief Carson Tranquille is running for Jacksonville City Council to continue his long history of public service to the resident’s in District 2.  As a former Zone Commander, Patrol Division Chief for the area and current community leader, Chief Carson knows the district and its residents well.  He will provide determined, professional leadership to bring new economic opportunity and improved public safety.

Chief Carson has proven his dedication.  He served more than 30 years in some of the JSO’s most demanding positions.  He supervised and led JSO's SWAT team, Gang Unit, Bomb Squad and Hostage Negotiator Unit among dozens of other leadership assignments.  As District 2’s Zone Commander, he patrolled the neighborhoods and was responsible for all the area’s police functions including leadership of the zone's 190 plus JSO officers.

He’s a father, grandfather, former church trustee and former homeowners association president, but Chief Carson knows this campaign is about the residents of District 2 and the leadership they deserve on Jacksonville’s City Council.
