As a local wife, mother and business owner of a day care, I am well connected to the Walton County community that I have lived in for over 25 years. I grew up in a loving Christian home with my parents as local pastors and church leaders. I have always had a passion for the arts and volunteered and performed my love for acting in many theater productions for the local schools, community centers, churches, three arts alliance of Walton County and for Northwest Florida State College. I traveled abroad frequently in family and church ministry, including such missions trips with companies such as Big World Ventures to Central America.

I learned hard work ethics and business practices from a young age from my parents, who were successfully involved in many business ventures from land development, real estate, car dealerships and sales which provided many jobs for the local community. This instilled an entrepreneurial spirit in me early on where I became proficient in business. I obtained my vehicle dealer license and assumed the full daily responsibility and operations of one of my families car dealership locations. I enjoyed traveling to many of the car auctions personally bidding and purchasing the inventory and handling all transport, sales, customer relations and financial reporting with investors. I understand working with and keeping relationships with a variety of different people as well as developing and working within balanced budgets.
I stayed local, maintaining working full time in the car business while attending school full time graduating on the Deans list from North West Florida State College. I married my hard working husband and childhood friend, Keith Goodson who was a local prominent 30-A chef at the time and now works hard in the construction industry. With the blessing arrival of our son, I elected to leave the busy automotive industry and find some work where as a new and excited mother I would have more time with my new bundle of joy. While exploring the option of child care in my town of Santa Rosa Beach, I noticed there was not nearly enough options. So I took my business experience and studied to become licensed in the daycare industry and in 2010 opened 30-A Little Ones, a private daycare in the heart of Santa Rosa Beach. A year later, our beautiful daughter was born. I was able to be a hands on mother as desired, as well as run a successful business that provided a much needed service to the community and residents of Walton County. Licensed with the Department of Children and Families I have been honored to serve countless families in the community, including foster children and child protective cases that just needed loving care. I was the only daycare in town that opened its doors not just to locals but the tourists in town who loved taking advantage of the drop-in care while they were vacationing the beautiful beaches. As present small business owner of 30-A Little Ones Daycare, I believe I have served in an invaluable role for over 10 years, seeing personally the struggles local working families have in finding adequate services in Walton County. I was also honored to provide employment to many local staff over the years.

Within Walton county I regularly volunteer with area churches and food pantries, collecting and distributing food to families in need especially now during these recent trying times. I have a servant’s heart and just a love for people, giving many personal hours to the benefit of the community and others in need.

Over the years, I have had an increasing interest in working alongside the members of Walton county to see a positive change in this great area. Recently that interest spiked with personally witnessing what her community went through due to the COVID pandemic. As a wife, mother and local business owner, I personally saw the effects of what a couple of short months can do to the people and this economy. It made me realize now was the time step up and be a new voice to fight for the residents of Walton county. I firmly believe that every resident, business and church in this community is essential. I will always stand with a fair upright voice for people’s rights while maintaining safety for the residents of Walton county.

I have grown increasingly concerned as to the direction of the growth and effects on quality of life that we been experiencing over the recent years in Walton County. I welcome and supports tourism as it is the main bread and butter of the County budget, but this pandemic has also shown us that we cannot put all our eggs in one basket. Our guests coming here do not always love and respect the community that we live, work and worship in as we do. We need to be thinking about our next generation of residents, our children. What will they think about how we managed this growth and what legacy will we be leaving for them? I will strive to serve this office with humility, common sense, integrity and trust in the leadership of Godly wisdom & guidance. Not only for our current generation, but for future generations who will come behind us.
