Candidate: Teddy Stewart

Hello and Thank You for visiting Teddy Stewart For Walton County Commission, District 3. Over the past couple of years, as I have spoken to a large number of citizens from every part of Walton County and have been encouraged by their support for the idea of me running for the County Commission in District 3. I am honored by the support and encouragement I have received and humbled by the thought that many believe I would be a good representative of our community.

I have spent many years in service, to our country in the United States Air Force, as a police officer for the City of San Antonio, elected by my fellow police officers and serving for 10 years as a Trustee of the $2 Billion San Antonio Fire and Police Pension Fund, elected for two terms as President of the 2000 member San Antonio Police Officers Association and as a Deacon in First Baptist Church of Mossy Head. I have spent the past seven years appointed by Commissioner Bill Chapman as his representative to the Walton County Planning Commission, the past five years as its Chairman. I believe in “Service above Self” and have tried to live my life in a way that is above anything else, following Jesus’s call to be of service to others.

I have been fortunate to have been entrusted to many leadership rolls, both in my professional career and personal life and have done my best to be an effective servant leader. I am a native of Walton County and our family history here goes back several generations. I have witnessed Walton County grow beyond anything that could have been imagined and we now sit as the 5th fastest growing county in the United States.

Walton County is at a point where experienced leadership is needed to help address the multiple issues of such rapid growth. We have an opportunity to set a path forward as One Walton County, separated but not divided, by a body of water. We must, at this time, work together to find solutions to the infrastructure challenges, the need for quality, career-oriented jobs for today and the future. Our forefathers expect us to preserve our heritage, our children and grandchildren deserve our commitment to provide a healthy environment for them to pursue their dreams and raise their families right here in Walton County. As your Commissioner I am committed to working with the other commissioners to commit our resources and budget in a way to focus on these and other objectives that benefit Walton County’s most precious asset, our Citizens. These are but two of the many challenges we face, and I am committed to leading the charge forward to make Walton County all it can be.

My life experience has provided me a unique perspective and set of qualifications. My commitment as commissioner is to utilize those attributes to lead when leadership is needed, support other commissioner initiatives when they are in the best interest of the county, ensure staff has the tools and resources needed to provide the best service for our citizens, doing all in a fiscally conservative manor.
