Candidate's Statement

Courtney Staley lives in Cape Coral with her husband and former Lee County student, Cyrus, and their four children, Hayden, Kiptyn, Sloane, and Rhonen. Three of their children currently attend school in the district and the fourth will join them next fall. Courtney graduated from Florida State University in a little over two years with a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management. She went on to obtain her Master of the Arts in Teaching degree in one year from the University of Southern California in Education. Courtney has been employed by the district in a variety of roles including 5th grade teacher, 1st grade teacher, Resource teacher, and K-2 Literacy Coach. She currently works as a Secondary Literacy Coach in district. Courtney is a District Advisory Committee representative, an elementary testing coordinator, and the School Improvement Plan Coordinator at her school. Courtney and her husband also own a local automotive repair business in the community. 

 

Courtney is a former Americorps member working with the Teach For America program which had a less than 11% acceptance rate when she was chosen. She served the Mississippi Delta community as a summer school teacher for incoming 6th grade students before being placed in rural Eastern North Carolina to help serve 1st grade students.
