Candidate: Oweda Genus

Oweda J. Genus sees herself as loyal and dedicated daughter, sister, mother of three children, one daughter, two sons, and grandmother of three.  Oweda has a masters professional studies in educational leadership and psychology from Hodges University, Ft. Myers campus.  She is a master's level board certified addition professional (MCAP), board certified alcohol and drug counselor through the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (ICR&ADC) by way of the Florida Certification Board.  Oweda's newest venture while she continues to serve the community in her profession, is hosting From the Heart program and serves as a contact host on the New Caribbean Community Radio and Caribbean Community Voices newspaper in Port Charlotte, Florida, serves a program contact for Community Concerns for Children and Families (CCFCF).  Oweda is inspirational in targeting our younger population using the radio as a tool to broadcast their talents, linking, and building bridges with agencies in SW Florida, while cultivating ideas and better ways to improve human well-being and the welfare for humanity via education, information, and community resources.  Her commitment to humanity through community is undeniable, especially as a force in empowering women, children, and families.  Oweda believes that we are the community, wherever we are and whomever we are, "it is our duty", she says "to learn from each other, respect each other, never stop learning and growing productively for the preservation of humanity through good citizenship.  Her passion to serve with dedication, God-given, the best way she can, to preserve the pursuit of liberty, encourage happiness and strengthen hope wherever she goes.
