Candidate: George Norris

My name is George Norris and I am asking for your vote and support to continue as your Republican State Committeeman for Bay County.

The Republican Party is one of the few remaining institutions in American that is still willing to show support for long standing American values and traditions. Unless we stand up and pull together right now, our county and the American Dream will be lost. The very way of life that we have held dear for generations is presently in peril. Virtues and values such as hard work, self-reliance, law and order, freedom of religion, freedom of speech and the right to own guns are now no longer acceptable to those who seek to reorder our society. In Florida we look to the Republican Party of Florida as an institution that should be steadfast and determined to promote and protect our values and way of life. It is critical that the Republican Party of Florida have dedicated conservatives who will stand firmly for conservative causes, ideals and candidates.

As you have seen many times through the years our conservative values are often compromised by our own party leaders and elected officials. We need confirmed conservatives who will hold the line. I am that person. As your Republican State Committeeman you can rest assured that I will stand up and be a clear voice for the positions that you hold dear.

  With that said I offer the following as insight into my background and why I think that I am qualified for this position:

I was born and raised in Panama City, Florida.  My upbringing was very traditional, middle class and conservative.  My father was a Marine who fought on Iwo Jima and then went on to work for Gulf Power for many years and then eventually opened his own auto parts and machine shop – Norris Auto Parts here in Panama City which our family operated for approximately 20 years.  My mother was an elementary school teacher at Highland Park Elementary for many years before joining my dad to work in the family business until they retired.

I attended Florida State University in Tallahassee where I obtained a BS in Finance and an MBA, as well as an MS in Economics.

After leaving FSU my first career was a ten year stent in banking as a Commercial Loan Officer. I worked in Miami and Jacksonville before returning back here to Bay County. I was very fortunate in that I was able to help many local small businesses grow and expand during this time.   

My next venture was to serve as President and operating partner in the local Popeye’s Fried Chicken stores.  This operation employed over 30 workers and sold a lot of great tasting chicken! 

Although frying chicken was a lot of fun I left Popeye’s after a few years and went into the commercial insurance business. I owned and operated a successful commercial insurance agency – The Norris Agency -  in Bay County for over 20 years.

While operating my insurance agency I also taught Finance and Economics at Troy University for ten years at Tyndall AFB, as well as at Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field.

I have also served on several local boards including the Panama City Civil Service Board for ten years and the Panama City Port Authority board for sixteen years.

Through the years I have evidenced my dedication to conservative causes by not only helping and donating to conservative candidates, but also by promoting and donating to such organizations as:

·       NRA – Life Member  - Strong advocate for our 2nd Amendment Rights

·       The American Center For Law & Justice – Member & Donor since 2000

·        Republican National Committee  -  Member & Donor since 2001

·       Hillsdale College -  Supporter and Donor since 1997

·       Judicial Watch  -  Member & Donor since 2000

·       Confirmed advocate for less government, lower taxes, property rights and more personal freedom

I have worked in banking, retail food sales, insurance and higher education. I have firsthand experience and insight into the American Dream.  Hard work can and does still open doors and reveal opportunities. I want the opportunities afforded to me by hard work to be available for future generations.  Unless we pull together to protect our institutions and ideals the American Dream will die and be gone forever. The Republican Party is one of the few remaining institutions in America that is still holding the line in this regard.  It is vital that we make sure that the Republican Party of Florida stands firm to safeguard our principles and does not compromise. 

My conservative positions are a matter of public record. I have never shied away from standing up for conservative values and causes.

I can and will do all that I can to represent you and to help the Republican Party of Florida pursue and defend the ideals that you hold dear, including identifying and supporting candidates that will stand strong in this fight.
