Candidate's Statement

Hi Bay Republican voter! I am Mitzi Prater and I am humbly asking for the confidence of your vote on or before August 20, 2024.

My family and I moved to Panama City in 1995 when my husband, Jerry, was offered the position of Fire Chief of Panama City. It was my pleasure to jump right in to help our community, initiation was cooking in the Salvation Army trailer for First Responders following Hurricane Opal.

As a leader in this community for over 25 years and as a wife, mother of 4 and grandmother of 7, I know the importance of fostering a strong relationship between the party and the voters to help secure a better future for our children and grandchildren.

With the experience I have gained in the many years I have been involved in the political arena, working with voters in Florida and Bay, professionals, operatives, legislators, congress and candidates at all levels, I am confident that I am the leader you need going into the 2026 gubernatorial election and the 2028 presidential election. Your new State Committeewoman will take office December 1, 2024 AFTER the November General Election for President. As the State Committee makes plans for the next four years, my experience will come into play. While attending the RPOF Quarterly meetings for the past 10 years AT MY OWN EXPENSE, it was my honor to work on the team that increased Republican voter registration to almost one million over Democrats, reorganized and planned the ground game, increased election integrity and made changes within our ranks. During this time I have been working directly with the Bay Supervisor of Elections Office and the Canvassing Boards during every election cycle to both learn the details and protect your vote. I was appointed to Gov. DeSantis’ Election Integrity Team and worked with the legislature to ensure our elections become more secure. In 2016 the RPOF Executive Board elected that I represent Florida as an Alternate Delegate to the RNC National Convention and in 2024 (in July) it was my honor to have been elected by my colleagues to represent our 15 county Congressional District 2 as a Delegate.

Community involvement is my passion! I have been on the board of the GFWC Woman’s Club of Panama City and the St. Andrew Bay Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for several years; Bay District Schools 1/2 Cent Sales Tax Citizens Oversight Committee and Budget Committee; Salvage Santa; Rachal’s Relief; Children’s Advocacy Center; Salvation Army; Toys for Tots; Food Banks; Destination Panama City; Lynn Haven Place of Distribution following the 2018 storm; Mentor-New Horizons Alternative School; PTA President; Little League Softball Coach and many more. One of the more valuable accomplishments was working with young women of the Miss America Organization and Colleges to secure funding to educate an entire generation of women in Alabama.

Legislative activity is another passion of mine. I learned how the legislature works together with the Governor and his/her cabinet for change many years ago. As the President of the Panama City Federated Republican Women and on the Florida state board as well as a special assistant to the Florida House, I led many women to advocate for our communities. To this day I continue to work with our leaders in Bay to advocate for our children, elderly, military, etc., with our conservative values.

Our Republican Party believes in freedom, family values, personal responsibility, economic growth, secure borders, the Constitution and its Amendments as well as the best education with a path to prosperity. We must be united by our platform with principles and lead with integrity.

I have been America First since I was born, supporting the Republican ticket including Trump/Pence now Trump/Vance and our Gov. Ron DeSantis. GOTV-Getting the Vote Out is my specialty! Knocking on doors (canvassing) and telephone targeting are a joy to me as I interact with voters. I guarantee you I have knocked on more doors and made more phone calls than anyone in Bay County, perhaps save one. Candidates for state and federal office have reached out to me to lead our county and the NW Florida area with their campaigns and entrusting me to represent them for the 2018 recount.

I have been fortunate to have participated in many leadership classes, seminars and conventions over the years as well as a week at the Leadership Instiute in Arlington, VA.

Republicans, I am humbly asking for the honor of your vote on or before August 20th for State Committeewoman. Together we will strengthen and unify the Republican Party to bring our country back together.

Respectfully,

Mitzi
