Candidate: Richard Pastor

Hi, my name is Rich Pastor. I live in the Village of St. Johns and have decided to run for Supervisor in Community Development District 13, Seat 3.  Thank you for viewing my profile. 

Here is a little about my background to help you determine if you might want to consider me to represent your district.

My wife and I purchased our house in The Villages in April 2022, both retired on the same day in July 2023, and then moved to The Villages shortly thereafter. Since that time, we have been enjoying the lifestyle, forming many friendships, and getting settled into our new home  We are from central New York (Utica)

I have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the State Univeristy of New York, Polytechnic Institute and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University. 

I spent a majority of my career in the Packaging and Plastics industry involved in the design and operations of large industrial machinery and the processes and products they generate. I started on a drafting table drawing detailed parts and doing calculations for complex assemblies.  Over time, I advanced to managerial and global leadership positions within the companies I worked for.  I have led broad organizations across multiple regions and have experience in dealing with complicated issues, creating and balancing extensive budgets, reviewing and approving purchasing requests, managing complex capital equipment investment projects, and working across business boundaries with hourly, union, salaried, management, contractors/vendors, executive teams, and boards. 

My interest and approach to working on this board is quite simple:

• Listen and seek to understand the issues raised and help identify the root causes
• Simplify and clarify the issues and look for solutions based on the data
• Fill in gaps where applicable and needed
• Be an advocate for our District while also being consistent, honest and attentive to the needs and rights of all parties 
• Clearly communicate and ensure information and decisions are readily shared

I will strive to use my business and technical background to perhaps provide a different perspective along with the other capable supervisors supporting our District.
