25 Years of Experience

As the Chief Information Officer for the Marion County Property Appraiser’s Office, I have gained a deep understanding of the operations of our office. During my 25 years of experience in our office I dedicated myself to learning every facet of our office operations, mass appraisal methods, and requirements for producing an equitable tax roll.

Millions Saved Through Appraisal Innovations

Because of my years of experience, the assistance of our excellent staff, and my expertise in software development, with the blessing of our current Property Appraiser, Villie M. Smith, I was able to design and develop the office Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal System (CAMA) we call Merlin as well as other applications and tools, saving the county nearly six million dollars in commercial software purchases, licensing, and maintenance fees over the last decade.

Fiscally Responsible

I believe that government should always provide excellent service to its constituents at the lowest possible cost to the tax payers. I am dedicated to this belief and promise to reduce costs while producing the most fair and equitable tax roll possible. The knowledge I gained while earning a Master’s degree in accounting at Saint Leo University will help me keep costs down in our office.

U.S. Air Force Veteran

I served our country in the U. S. Air Force from 1984-1988, the height of the Cold War, as a Intelligence Analyst primarily in the United Kingdom. During my time in the military, I became a very disciplined individual with strong leadership skills.

Knows Marion County

I have a vested interested in Marion County as a 49-year resident. I grew up here, went to school here, I go to church here, and I am raising my family here. I love Marion County from the small town feel of our great county seat of Ocala and our other municipalities of Belleview, Dunnellon, historic McIntosh, and Reddick,  to the majestic horse farms and the natural beauty of our rivers, lakes, parks, and the Ocala National Forest.

For the People of Marion County

Even though I wasn’t born here, I feel like a native son and will always do my best for the people of Marion County if I am elected as your next Property Appraiser.
