Candidate's Statement

Dear Ward 4 Voter,

It has been my honor to serve as your Commissioner for Ward 4. Working alongside the other Commissioners and professionals that make up the Panama City, City Commission has been a privilege. I have enjoyed working with the talented staff that is the backbone of our Commission and the CRA.

I have been fortunate enough to have been a Panama City resident for the majority of my life. Attending St. John Catholic School, Bay High School, Gulf Coast Community College, and receiving  my Bachelor’s Degree from Troy University where I also ran track.

As President of Nichols & Associates Insurance; I have been in the Insurance business for over 34 years. I take pride in the fact the I provide an important service to people with honesty and integrity and will continue to do so.

“People want one thing from their City Commission and that is ACTION! That is what I am proud to provide on a daily basis.”

Together, in Ward 4, we have been able to accomplish and begin so many improvements such as:

    • St. Andrews Community School: We have and continue to create a vibrant community center at the location of the St. Andrews Community School.
    • Developed plans for Hentz Park Improvements: Improved flooding problems, planted trees, and added a walking trail with exercise stations with playground equipment for children.  We are rebuilding this neighborhood park to bring children and families together in a safe place to relax and enjoy each other.
    • Championed the reduction of Ad Valorem tax by ½ mil while voting NO on the fire assessment fee and will continue to fight to reduce both in the coming years.
    • Led the charge to leverage grant money allowing homeowners in low lying areas to participate in a voluntarily buyout program.  This reduced the stress and anxiety of these families and gave them the opportunity to get a fresh start in another Panama City home.
    • Ensure that the rebuilding plans of the St. Andrew marina includes public access and additional amenities while promoting charter and recreational fishing.

We have to continue as a city to provide the essential services to our citizens in a professional and efficient manner.   By supporting and providing security and safety services from our fire and police departments we will ensure that our residents continue to live in a beautiful city where it is safe to raise their families.   By continue to responsibly invest in a solid infrastructure such as good roads, stormwater facilities and other utilities we will be prepared as our city grows. We will continue to invite, and welcome new businesses and other residents which will help us sustain and grow a solid and robust local economy.  Most importantly we will insure that every decision made considers what is most important; the quality of life that is living in Panama City.

I would appreciate your vote on or before April 20th. Thank you for your confidence in me and trusting me to represent you. I take this job very seriously and look forward to the things that we will accomplish together in the future.  Should you have any questions; please feel free to call my personal cell phone at 850-819-1464.
