Candidate's Statement

Jonathan Foley is a 26 year old candidate running to bring renewed and young energy to the Port Orange City Council representing District 1.

At five years old Jonathan moved with his family to the city of Port Orange from North Carolina. In 2000 his parents Sam and Jody Foley started a small community church in town, Chapel of Faith. It was through the church and it’s outreach programs that he began to understand the importance of helping his community. He became involved by visiting nursing homes, helping with the food ministry, and Family Days. At the age of sixteen Jonathan followed his passion and became the music director of the church. In 2017, he was elected to serve on the church board of trustees, exemplifying the respect he’s earned from his fellow congregation members at such a young age. He feels honored to have grown up in such a strong and caring community and is happy to be able to give back to the church and hopes to give back to the city of Port Orange the same way.

Jonathan has been making his mark as a musician for over ten years both locally and nationally. This entrepreneur style career has taught him multiple key aspects of running a successful business. Such as the importance of developing a brand, having a high quality website and using social media to reach their target audiences through analytics and engagement. He has used what he's learned to coach and educate business owners and others in the community to help develop their respective businesses to compete in today’s ever changing commerce climate.

He is now enrolled in Daytona State College working towards a degree in Economics. This should be beneficial to the City of Port Orange by bringing a fresh perspective in how to allocate resources and knowing the importance of small businesses in a community.
