Candidate: Mary Rosetta French

         My name is Mary Rosetta French. I am running for County Commissioner for District 4. The reason why I would make a good candidate for this position is because I was born and spent most of my life here. I know the hardships and struggles that have faced my family and other families in this county.  My Grandparents came to Sumter County more than 60 years ago. They bought 5 acres, raised their children and farmed. My family has worked and some still do in the rock mines, plant nurseries, packing sheds and lumber yards here in Sumter County. I have a background as a corrections officer at a maximum-security men’s prison and have worked hand in hand with law enforcement. My husband of 31 years Wayne is a truck driver.  

            Six years ago, I came back home when my mothers’ health started failing.  Since then, I have been working side by side with many charities. This includes but is not limited to working with different groups helping families in need find beds and bedding for children, And resources for low-income families and the elderly. As vice-president of the Croom-A-Coochee Community Center, I was blessed with the donations to start a food pantry that provides delivery to the homebound elderly as well as a pickup site for families in need of a little help.

           A vote for me is a vote for our hometown. A Commissioner that will listen to and fight for all the people and put their needs before big corporation. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any issues or concerns that you may have.
