He’s worked with his fellow board members and district staff organizing and managing the Annual Sumter Schools Scholarship Golf Tournament, which has raised more than $240,000 for student scholarships since 2016.
He believes parents and family play a vital role in the success of their child’s education by being involved in every step of the way. He believes in putting the needs of kids first and ensuring they have every opportunity to learn in a safe and secure environment.
David is deeply rooted in Sumter County. Growing up in Wildwood, he belonged to the Boy Scouts of America and served as the patrol leader. He played on the high school golf team and also served as an editor of the high school's yearbook. David is a 2nd generation graduate of Wildwood High School. He attended Florida State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Business with a major in Hospitality Administration and also Professional Golf Management.
David has a vested interest in Sumter County Schools. He lives in Oxford with his wife, a graduate of South Sumter High School and current elementary school teacher, and their two children. His main priorities are with his faith and his family.
David has helped lead Sumter County Schools by focusing on the basics of education. He works hard for the students and supports school programs that allow them to achieve their goals and become successful, whether it be a desire for post-secondary education, being career ready, or to serve in our great military.
He is committed to ensuring students learn about The Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights, as well as education of the United States flag, with proper display and salute.
The growth and prosperity of Sumter County will continue to have a positive impact on our schools for years to come. Not only has he gained the experience, but also the foresight to work effectively with his fellow board members in planning for the next generation’s success.
