Candidate: Jeff Bogue

Allow me to introduce myself.  I am Jeff Bogue and I am asking for your vote for Sumter County Commissioner, District 4. I am prepared to proudly serve all of the citizens of Sumter County with dignity, honesty, and integrity.  I am dedicated to being the voice of the people, and working to make government fair, transparent, and financially responsible. 

My wife Amy and I fell in love with the hometown feel of Sumter County seven years ago when we made the decision to move away from our home in the suburbs after the graduation of our two oldest children. We knew that we had found the perfect place to raise our young daughter, while following our dream of owning a small farm. It is this love for the county that inspired me to become more involved within the community.

Growing up in a military family, I learned early in life about the importance of honor and service. My own career brought me down a different path of public service within the world of emergency medicine.  Over the past 30 years, my career has touched on every aspect of emergency medicine, from my early years as a Firefighter/Paramedic, to my years as a Flight Paramedic, and more recently to my career as Director of EMS for one of the largest healthcare providers in Central Florida. I have built a hospital EMS operation successfully from the ground up. It is through these experiences that I have acquired the education, knowledge and skills that will allow me to be an effective County Commissioner.

I recently served the citizens of Sumter County as a volunteer on the ad hoc ambulance committee, where I assisted the county commission in finding ways to improve Sumter’s fire and EMS services.  While serving on this committee, I realized much more work needs to be done, and this is what influenced me to run for County Commissioner. I will never place personal or special interests before the interests of the people. I will serve all residents of this county without bias and with an open mind. I will work tirelessly to make sure that the county’s tax dollars are spent solely for the benefit of the citizens of Sumter County.  I stand on the side of the citizens.

Work to ensure that the Fire and EMS system is managed appropriately so that no citizen ever has to wait an hour for a ambulance, which is simply never acceptable

Work to establish fair and equitable impact taxing rates

Represent the citizens so that this government is by and for the citizens

Better manage commercial growth in the county

Limit special interest influence while supporting local small businesses

Work to improve countywide continuity of services offered to the public

Strive to improve roadways and bridges for the entire county
